Partner Invitation & Collaboration
How to bring your partner into BabyTime, sync votes in real-time, and build consensus without stress.
Why Invite Your Partner?
BabyTime makes naming a true collaboration. When you invite your partner, you'll both:
- See each other's votes in real-time
- Discover names you both love in the "Shared Loves" section
- Track disagreements and discuss them thoughtfully
- Build a shortlist together without endless text message debates
- Share Pro Features (if you upgrade, they get access too!)
Step-by-Step Guide
Open Settings
From your BabyTime dashboard, tap the Settings icon (gear) in the top right corner.
Navigate to Partner & Household
Find the "Partner & Household" section. You'll see an "Invite Partner" button.
Send the Invitation
Click "Invite Partner" and copy the unique invite link. Share it via text, email, or however you communicate!
Partner Creates Account
When your partner clicks the link, they'll create their own BabyTime account and automatically join your household.
Common Questions
Can my partner have a different email provider?
Yes! Your partner can use any email address. They're creating their own independent account that's linked to your household, not sharing your login.
What if my partner doesn't see the invite?
Check their spam/junk folder. The invite link also works directly - just copy and paste it into a text message or chat. You can resend invites from Settings anytime.
Can we both edit the shortlist?
Absolutely! Both partners can add/remove names from the shared shortlist, change votes, and leave notes. Everything syncs in real-time.
Do we need two Pro subscriptions?
No! Pro is per household. If either partner upgrades, you both get full access to all Pro Features. One subscription, two parents, infinite possibilities.
What Happens After They Join?
Once your partner accepts and creates their account:
- Instant sync: You'll see each other online in real-time
- Vote visibility: Every name you vote on shows your partner's vote too
- Shared Loves section unlocks: Names you both heart appear here
- Disagreements tracking: See where you differ and discuss
- Joint shortlist: Build your finalist list together

Pro Tips from BabyTime Parents
- Browse separately at first to develop your own taste
- Set a weekly "name date" to review Shared Loves together
- Don't judge each other's "No" votes - everyone has preferences!
- Use Tournament Mode when you have 10+ Shared Loves to narrow down
- Turn on notifications so you see when your partner finds a gem
Inviting More People
While BabyTime is designed for two parents, Pro users can invite additional household members (grandparents, close friends) as "Viewers." They can see your shortlist and leave comments but can't vote. Great for getting trusted input without overwhelming the process!
